About our Company

Created by Francesco Mainini in the late 1960’s, Mainini Arredamenti was born out of a wood craftsman’s studio.  From Francesco’s personal experiences working with wood in those early years he began a great appreciation for the “art of creating furniture” that would guide him the rest of his life throughout his career.  The wood essences, the shades, the grains, and the stains and varnishes he learned about all contributed in forming the technical knowledge that he then brought into his ultimate dream of starting a new kind of furniture business.

After marrying his bride Tilde who also shared his love of finely crafted Italianfurniture, the young couple opened their first showroom, allowing them both to follow their passion for promoting modern Italian design which was also very fashionable in Milan at the time.  These were the same years of rising singing stars Mina, Gaber, and Patti Pravo; legendary designers such as Armani, Ferre’, and Trussardi and important innovators like Gualtiero Marchesi; in the field of Industrial Design, pioneers like Vico Magistretti, Jow Colombo, Gae Aulenti, Carlo Scarpa, Ignazio Gardella, and brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.

The young Maininis’ furniture business embraced these same cultural trends in luxury modern designer’s home furnishings and was soon destined to become well known and synonymous with “Italian good taste,” triggering worldwide admiration (and even some envy).

In the 80’s and 90’s the business expanded with the Reggio Emilia headquarters expanding to 6,000 square meters, a new flagship furniture boutique opening near downtown Parma, and Tilde and Francesco’s daughters, Simona and Alessia, joining the staff along with a whole team of young professional designers and architects.

Today, Mainini Arredamenti still offers the best in contemporary luxury Italian design including: Pininfarina, Luca Meda, Antonio Citterio, Mauro Lipparini, Enzo Mari, Philippe Stark, and Massimo Iosa Ghini.  And all the products offered are still synonymous with the same exceptional manufacturing quality that has made Italy famous throughout the world.

In recent years, luxury Italian old-world furnishings collections have been added to our showrooms for buyers who are more inclined toward the traditional and country styles of design, yet still want the same high standards in both quality and elegance.

We invite you to visit our showrooms in Reggio Emilia and Parma to see our impressive selection of fine furniture in an array of styles. We can also offer you customized design solutions and layouts that are specific to your needs to help you create the ideal home or office you desire, just as our tradition has always been.
